‘The Practice of Walking’ is practice-based action research generated through experiential learning, artistic exchange and reflective evaluation. David Kendall’s ongoing project evolves via personal projects, commissions, exhibitions, workshops, conferences, interviews, screenings and presentations of international photography projects exploring collaboration, memory, photographic archives and authorship. As a result, project work aims to encourage the development of socially engaged and critical pedagogy informed by photography, soundscapes and the built environment. Moreover, to investigate how visual communication and digital storytelling could be utilised to discover, question and situate spatial and social awareness of economic migration, asylum and refuge, homelessness, sensory disability, housing and health in cities.
