Kamal finished Summer School in 2011.  She was a public school teacher in New York City at the time.  She ended up spending her summer in London and learning about urbanism.  At the time, she didn’t realize how it would alter her life path.   She ended up changing her career, leaving teaching and starting a Masters in Photography and Urban Cultures at Goldsmiths in 2013.  Right now, she is still photographing and collaborating with non-profits in New York City working with mentors and youth in the Bronx and Harlem.  She still teaches, but mostly photography.  Kamal definitely feels that Summer School brought back her photographic spark that will last her whole life.
